Jason Horne

Jason has worked in education since 2002 as a teacher, instructional coach, professor, and principal. Having started his career teaching English in France, Jason brings a unique perspective to American education.

An early adopter of educational technology, Jason has presented nationally on using cell phones in the classroom, using Twitter in the classroom, and evaluating instructional technology. (You can view his presentation list here.)

As a school leader, Jason was tasked with designing and leading Tennessee Online Public School, Tennessee's first statewide online high school. TOPS has performed above expectations and has grown to five times its original size since its first semester. It was designated a reward school in 2017 and 2018.

After TOPS, Jason moved back to Campbell County Schools to take on the position of Secondary Supervisor. In addition to supervising high schools and middle schools, Jason is the attendance supervisor, counseling supervisor, nursing supervisor, and takes the lead on data analysis for the system. He stayed in Campbell County through the 2023-2024 school year.

After the 2023-2024 school year, Jason moved back to Greeneville to be the Assistant Director of Schools for Administration. In this role, he is responsible for operations of the school system including finance, human resources, technology, nutrition, transportation, and maintenance.

In addition to his day job, Jason is an adjunct professor in both the Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis and Curriculum and Instruction departments in the East Tennessee State University College of Education.

Jason is currently pursuing his Master’s in Applied Data Science from ETSU and plans on completing it in May of 2025.
